A Dynamic Platform Enhancing Accessibility and Showcasing the Trusts Rich Heritage
The Eva Crane Trust is delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new website, set to go live on 29th July 2024. This dynamic platform significantly improves accessibility and searchability, serving as a comprehensive showcase for the Trust's assets while offering a wealth of information to users worldwide.
The new website features seven distinct portals designed for easier navigation. We are particularly excited about the dedicated area for grant applicants, the incorporation of the Bee Boles Register, and the creation of an online museum to exhibit the Historical Collection.
As a grant giving organisation, we have focused upon enhancing the application system. There is now a personalised log-in area where successful applicants are better informed about the grant giving process as they are supported by the Trust. We continue to offer funding for innovative scientific research, citizen science projects, fascinating publications and international conferences.
The submission process re-opens in conjunction with the launch – go to ‘Apply for Funding’ to learn more about the criteria, view some of our previous projects and see the array of published articles that have been printed as a result of our funding.
The Bee Boles Register is a unique collection of over 1600 records of bee shelters and alcoves in Britain and Ireland. Discover this rich heritage and explore these vital structures, view images, and delve into their significance.
The Historical Collection was started by Dr Crane in the 1950’s and stands as a testament to beekeeping history. Our goal is to make these items more accessible than ever on our digital platform, by providing images and data of every item.
Additionally, we've enhanced the searchability of the Apicultural Abstracts and introduced a new portal About Eva Crane dedicated to our esteemed founder. Here, we have retained her captivating gallery of bee-related travels worldwide, along with her collection of diverse documents ranging from speeches to journal articles.
The Trust’s chairman, Richard Jones, shared his enthusiasm:
“I am thrilled and excited about the launch of our new website. It has been a huge undertaking, and we have had to postpone some of our grant-giving activities while we invested in this project, but I hope you will agree it was worth the wait!”
Richard also expressed his gratitude to Webbox Digital, who constructed the site, and to fellow Trustee and Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Dirk de Graaf, whose vision brought the site to life and has given the Trust a vibrant and exciting future.
