Notes
-
The site, owned by the Duchy of Lancaster, was once a residence for secular canons destroyed in the period of the dissolution of the monasteries. For historical reasons, although the wall is part of the site, the section it is in is not the responsibility of English Heritage; possibly because it was a farm and the stables on its site were in use. With the Duchy of Lancaster's blessing, these stables are now used for community storage by Higham Ferrers Tourism and the land surrounding it has been transformed during the Covid pandemic into a community garden. The bee bole was revealed last year when the walls were cleared of ivy. It is at the other end of the North wall bee bole, register number 1607. Pers comm Carol Fitzgerald, 26/01/2022.
